Voluntary Action North Somerset

The Big Lottery Fund, launched 19th May is calling for proposals by 16 October 08. Grants of between £10,000 and £500,000 will be available. Only one application from each organisation, or an independent branch of a larger organisation, is allowed under this programme.

The overall aims of YPF 2 LGs will be the same as they are for National Grants. That is: to ensure that all organisations that provide services to young people involve them in developing, running and reviewing policies and services, and; to help achieve at least two of the five Every Child Matters outcomes.These are:

• Being healthy: enjoying good physical and mental health; living a healthy lifestyle;
• Staying safe: being protected from harm and neglect; growing up able to look after yourself;
• Enjoying and achieving: getting the most out of life; developing skills for adulthood;
• Making a positive contribution: giving back to the local community and society; not offending or behaving anti-socially;
• Economic well-being: overcoming socio-economic disadvantages to achieve full potential in life.
