Applying to Trusts
Policy guidelines: Check the trust's guidelines and make sure your grant application matches them.
Beneficial area:Make sure your project is based in the Trust's "beneficial area" - the geographical area covered by the Trust.
Legal status: Some Trusts prefer to fund Registered Charities. Chris Shepherd for advice on legal status. See also the Charity Commission's new Model Small Group Constitution for groups with no employees or property and an income of less than £5,000.
What to apply for: Most trusts prefer to give a donation towards a project or towards a piece of equipment. It is a lot more difficult to find funding for general ‘core costs’, such as salary costs.
