Helping Voluntary and Community groups with development
Our support for Voluntary and Community groups has been growing year on year thanks to continued funding from the Community Fund and the North Somerset Fund. In the last year 53 groups have received individual advice, help and support.
Many funders now expect groups to have adopted formal constitutions and policies on a range of issues, such as health and safety or equal opportunities. This becomes an issue when applying for funding. Voluntary Action North Somerset can give advice and training on developing your organisation to meet the criteria set by funders. Last year we worked with 37 groups, many of whom have since made successful funding applications.
But it’s not just about funding. Recruiting and managing volunteers, health and safety, insurance, properly run committees, all these are important for the success of voluntary and community groups. And it’s our job to help voluntary and community groups to be successful. We have extensive hands-on experience to draw on and are well-placed to help groups with a range of management issues as well as with funding advice.
