Children and Young People’s Network

A partnership of voluntary and community organisations collaborating with Best Start Family Hubs to support and enhance services for Children and Young People in North Somerset.

    • Improve accessibility, inclusivity, and overall experience of CYP services in North Somerset.

    • Capture and integrate CYP feedback into service development and decision-making processes.

    • Strengthen collaboration across services and organisations to enhance service provision.

    • Address systemic barriers and challenges faced by CYP.

    • Promote an integrated approach to physical and mental wellbeing for CYP.

  • Voluntary and community organisations and groups supporting CYP in North Somerset.

    • We have approximately 120 contacts, with an additional 30 Friends of the CYP Network.

    • VANS hosted a Network Gathering on 20 October at Food Works SW. 22 people attended.

    • The CYP Network co-produced the 2025 Young Volunteers Guide.

    • We met in January 2026 to hear about the reforms in Children’s Services from the Director of Children’s Services at North Somerset Council, and began considering what the sector already delivers, how we might work with the council to identify and address some of the gaps in provision.

    • We contributed to the February Edition of the VANS newsletter, which focused on CYP.

    • We are planning more meetings and events, which will include some focus topics.

    • We are considering how we can better serve the CYP Network through our communications.

    • Continuing to develop and strengthen the CYP Network and promote sustainability is.
