The CPP Producer will work closely with the CPP Director & Programme Lead to deliver an ambitious, inclusive and community-powered Creative People and Places programme for North Somerset. Working with artists, residents, community organisations, consortium partners and the Citizens’ Panel, the postholder will help turn local ideas, evidence and priorities into high-quality creative projects and cultural experiences. The Producer will be supporting the implementation of and embedding understanding of the Citizens Panel processes and deliberative decision making.

This is a hands-on producing role for someone who can combine strong project coordination with creative judgement, excellent relationship-building and a practical understanding of how cultural activity works in community settings. The postholder will help ensure that CPP activity is well planned, accessible, inclusive, safely delivered and rooted in the lives, interests and ambitions of people across North Somerset.

Start date: We are looking for someone to start the job as soon as possible but understand that the successful candidate may have a notice period to serve.

Salary: £36,000 full-time equivalent, pro rata for 0.8 FTE.

Hours: 29.6 hours per week, equivalent to 0.8 FTE

Contract: Fixed term 2 years, subject to funding.

Base: Voluntary Action North Somerset, with community-based working and regular travel across North Somerset.

Working pattern: Flexible working arrangements will be considered. Some evening and weekend work will be required to support programme activity.

Programme Production and Delivery

• Working closely with the CPP Director to strategically plan, coordinate and deliver a varied programme of cultural activity, including commissions, participatory projects, creative events, residencies, pilots and co-produced activity.

• Translate programme plans into practical delivery schedules, working with artists, venues, community partners, freelancers and suppliers.

• Coordinate day-to-day production arrangements, including timelines, logistics, permissions, procurement, contracts, risk assessments, budgets and delivery plans.

• Ensure projects are delivered to agreed quality standards, on time and within budget.

• Support creative activity in a range of community settings, ensuring activity is welcoming, accessible and responsive to local context.

Community Engagement, Inclusion and Access

• Build trusted relationships with communities, groups and organisations across North Somerset, particularly with people and places that have had fewer opportunities to engage with arts and culture.

• Use inclusive approaches to work alongside the Citizens’ Panel, residents, and community partners to support meaningful co-design and co-production.

• Ensure equality, diversity, inclusion and access are embedded throughout the planning, delivery and evaluation of programme activity.

• Help create warm, respectful and practical ways for local people to shape, take part in and benefit from the programme.

Artists, Partners and Sector Development

• Support the CPP Director to identify, brief and manage artists, creative practitioners, producers, freelancers and delivery partners.

• Help coordinate commissioning processes, ensuring they are transparent, inclusive and aligned with CPP values and funder expectations.

• Build and manage relationships with local partners in collaboration with the CPP Director.

• Support peer learning, networking and reflective practice across the programme and wider cultural ecology.

• Represent CPP North Somerset positively at meetings, events and community activities where appropriate.

Planning, Administration and Compliance

• Maintain accurate project plans, records, contact lists, delivery notes and monitoring information.

• Support procurement, contracting, booking, scheduling and payment processes in line with VANS policies and funder requirements.

• Track project expenditure, support budget monitoring and provide regular updates to the CPP Director.

• Ensure delivery complies with relevant organisational policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity, data protection and confidentiality.

• Identify delivery risks and issues early and work with the CPP Director to resolve or escalate them appropriately.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

• Support the collection of qualitative and quantitative monitoring information, including participant data, feedback, case studies, learning notes and creative outputs.

• Work with the CPP Director, evaluation partners, artists and communities to capture learning and evidence of impact.

• Help ensure evaluation processes are proportionate, accessible and respectful of lived experience and community knowledge.

• Contribute to reports for VANS, the CPP Consortium, Arts Council England and other stakeholders.

• Use feedback and learning to improve delivery and strengthen future programme activity.

• Contribute to and engage with national citizen-led decision making networks

General Duties

Essential Experience

• Solid experience of producing complex arts and culture or community-based projects with multiple partners.

• Experience of working with artists, creative practitioners, freelancers, community groups or partner organisations.

• Experience in co-creating with communities, producing high-quality creative outcomes and outputs in collaboration with diverse communities

• Experience of project planning, administration, scheduling, budget tracking and practical delivery coordination.

• Experience of collecting monitoring information, feedback or evaluation evidence.

Essential Skills and Abilities

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities, deadlines and relationships at the same time.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen well, build trust and adapt communication for different audiences. Confident managing production teams and negotiating with a range of stakeholders.

• Practical problem-solving skills and the confidence to respond calmly to changing circumstances during delivery.

• Ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a small team and wider partnership.

• Ability to support accessible, inclusive and welcoming activity in community settings.

• Good written skills, including the ability to prepare clear notes, plans, summaries and reports.
